Yuasa NP batteries range and characteristics make them ideal for a range of applications:
  • AC Uninterruptible Power Systems (AC UPS)
  • DC Uninterruptible Power Systems (DC UPS - Telecommunications)
  • Alarm Systems
  • Lighting
  • Electronic Test Equipment

Sealed Construction

Yuasa VRLA battery’s unique construction and sealing technique ensure no electrolyte leakage from the case or battery terminals.

Flame Retardant

Yuasa NP battery containers and lids are made from a flame retardant plastic material (Oxygen Index 30).

Parallel Connections

Yuasa NP batteries have been specifically designed to allow for parallel connections. This provides the ability to configure and expand back-up power requirements to better suit the specifications of the application.

Electrolyte Suspension System

All Yuasa NP batteries utilise Yuasa’s unique electrolyte suspension system incorporating a micro fibre glass mat to retain the maximum amount of electrolyte in the cells.  The electrolyte is retained in the separator material and there is no free electrolyte to escape from the cells.

Recombination Technology

The design of Yuasa’s NP batteries incorporates the very latest oxygen recombination technology to maximise the efficiency of operation, eliminating the need for water to be added during its operational life.

Low Maintenance

Due to the perfectly sealed construction and the recombination of gases with the cell, the battery requires minimal maintenance while in service.

Terminals

Yuasa’s NP batteries are manufactured using a range of terminals which vary in size and type.  Each has been selected to best match the requirements of both typical applications and electrical efficiency.

Orientation

The combination of the sealed battery construction and Yuasa’s unique electrolyte suspension system allows operation in any orientation, with no loss of performance or leakage of electrolyte (excluding continuous use in inverted position).

Valve Regulated Design

All NP batteries are equipped with engineered low pressure venting system. This system allows the release of excess gases within the battery which can occur under charging conditions.  The system automatically reseals when the internal pressures within the battery return to specified levels.
NOTE: NP batteries should not be charged in a fully sealed container. For further information please contact your local Century Yuasa representative.

Lead Calcium Grids

The heavy duty lead calcium alloy grids provide an extra margin of performance and life in both shallow cyclic and float applications, offering unparalleled recovery from deep discharge.

Service Life

The expected service life for Yuasa NP batteries is five years in stationary floating applications. When used in shallow cycling applications, Yuasa NP batteries can achieve over a thousand discharge/charge cycles. For further information please contact your local Century Yuasa representative.

Separators

A specially designed separator material provides a very efficient insulation between the negative and positive plates within the Yuasa NP battery.  This insulation prevents inter-plate short circuits and inhibits the shedding of the active material on the plates, thereby maximising the life of the battery.

Long Shelf Life

The extremely low self-discharge rate of the Yuasa NP batteries allows these batteries to be stored for extended period of up to one year at normal ambient temperatures.

Wide Operating Temperature Range

The industrial design of the Yuasa NP range provides for use over a broad range of temperatures, providing there is some flexibility in both system design and location.

Charge Temperature Range: -15oC to 45oC (Float Use)
Discharge Temperature Range: -20oC to 60oC
Storage Temperature Range: -20oC to 50oC (fully charged condition)

Recyclability

All Yuasa lead acid batteries have the potential to be recycled.  In most cases, better than 90% of Yuasa lead acid batteries can be recycled. For further information on Century Yuasa’s recycling program, please visit the Recycling section.
